    40 h.p. evinrude pins are stuck tight........use heat??? older unit , saltwater , unit won't go up or down , motor turns, have to pull up by hand

    replaced head gasket..."blown out" around edges...but still had 135 lbs compression , now @ 142 on both cyl's.....and runs cool again !!! REPLACED new factory flywheel key.....my timing was at 19*( wot)....now idles @ 4*(btdc)...at wot only goes to 8*.......can move advance by hand, but will...

    johnson 50 h.p. (1985)....shered flywheel key

    (1) keep shering key @ flywheel.....is there a lock washer under nut???? (2)engine pumping water , solid stream , but is overheating at long idle in the water, and the water is cold coming out (3) looking for a prop. , 1985 50 h.p. ( 12 1/4 x 15 ).....what year & h.p. props will interchange???

    johnson 50 erratic spark

    johnson 1985 g7044267..j50belco pulled flywheel , no discolered coils, like new, spark advance free, runs slow and wont pickup speed.....but kicks in for a few seconds and back to slow . went threw complete fuel system ( carbs, lines, reed valves, pump). timing light shows erratic spark, pull...

    Lost 1/2 power@ full speed 1985 50 hp

    cleaned fuel system, new plugs, compression 135 on both cylinders, 1985 johnson 50 h.p. ........runs slow when started, but speeds up slightly when using choke..then dies out... ...puting timing light on plug wires...intermitent spark, to none on both cyl's. maybe cd box ???.........flywheel...

    running @ 3/4 throttle , suddenly droped down to 1/2 power ?? 1985 johnson 50 h.p. twin cyl. seems to run slightly better on choke.....compression @ 130 , both cyl's, went through fuel system(ok).....looks like electrical ??

    Johnson, 1985 50h.p. Runs w.o.t.

    NEED SOME BIG HELP !!! ENGINE STARTS FINE, RUNS COOL, AFTER 1/2 TO A HOUR OF RUNNING WHEN COMING TO THE DOCK I PUT THE BOAT IN NUTRAL.......THE ENGINE GOES TO FULL SPEED WITH THE CARBS CLOSED, AND THE KEY OFF.....I MEAN BLOW UP RPM'S.........I HAVE TO TURN THE RED LEVER ON THE ELEC. CHOKE...

    runs w.o.t........50 h.p. johnson

    still need some help on a johnson that runs wide open, ready to blow up, when brought down to neutral. doesn't happen everytime, but tries too. .........maybe floats are set to high???? need some ideas......:confused: also surges when running @ 1500 rpm.........

    1985 johnson

    runs wide open when brought down from half throttle to neutral, turn the key off, still runs wot, have to pull cowl, turn off elec choke lever(red), starts up and idles fine...........bill............50 hp twin cyl.....2 carbs
