    exhaust gaskets

I am doing some work on my exhaust manifolds and risers, the gaskets have 3 openings for water flow. why is the 4th one blocked off? Foolish me I have forgotten which one is blocked, I think it's the bottom one but I'm not positive and don't want to have to do this twice. Can someone remind me...

    Sniper EFI

I have a older engine set up which uses a Rochester 4 jet carburetor, not to be confused with a quadrajet. All 4 venturis are the same size which precludes me from getting a more modern carburetor. I am looking at Holly's Sniper EFI and was wondering if anyone has used one and how well it works...

    Temp gauge issues

Good morning, I have a question I hope someone can answer for me. I have a 350 cubic inch Chevy with 150 hours on it, when running along at 3000 rpm's the temp gauge is showing 190 degrees. If I use an IR gun to check the temp it shows 149 degrees where the sending unit is and 170 on the coolant...

    Starters

Good morning everyone, I have a quick question about starters. I have a 350 cu/in Chevy engine and I want to get a spare starter. The fella who I deal with on these is recommending a geared starter rather then the old school one I have right now. He tells me that will do the same thing my old...

    temp readings

A while back I had written about how high my temp reading were on my engine (350 cubic inch GM). I had when replacing the engine some time ago moved the temp sensor as where in had been located was not working at all. I placed it in the only place it would go and that was in the side of the...

    Oil pressure

Ok guys, I have an odd one for you. My boat has a chevy 270 (350 cu/in engine). I have a electric oil pressure gauge on it and when I start up cold it tells me I have 75 to 80 pounds of pressure. When I would get up to 2200 rpms it is around 75 pounds, get up to 3200 rpm and it starts to bounce...

    Weird ome

Ok Guy's I have a weird one for you. I have a 270 in Miss Nancy and she purrs like a kitten. Runs great until I get to the higher RPM's aka 3800 to 4000. At this point the oil pressure drops very low. If I slow down it comes right back to it's normal 40+ lbs. The engine has 40 hours on it. Any...

    coil

I picked up a Mallory Ylm distributor for my boat and am getting ready to install it. What should I use for a coil with it? and do I need the ballest resistor with this unit. If I had a complaint it would be the lack of instructions with the unit. Thanks in advance! Paul

    Intake manifold

I have an intake manifold on my 350 which was originaly off a 283. The reason I am using it is due to the fact that instead of a single gooseneck for the cooling hase I have two of them. One on each side of the intake. The coolent reservior mounts where the gooseneck would have been. The problem...

    Oil Pressure

I have a 350 chevy in a pacer/crusader configuration. I rebuilt it and at low rpm's have little to no oil pressure. At 2000 to 2500 I run at 40 to 45 lb's. I am running 40 wieght oil as some one had suggested. I plan to yarn it out of the boat in the next week or so. Any and all ideas are...

    Oil pressure

Hi all, looking for advice as I go along. I had an earlier post on oil pressure and temp, the temp is cured and now I have to deal with the oil pressure. A quick history, I did a rebuild on my 350 pacer/crusader engine. She starts right up and sounds great. Oil pressure when I start is at 50...

    repacked stuffing box.

I just finished launching my Alglas after quite a bit of work including repacking the stuffing box. Now I know it is supposed to have a drip which lubricates the shaft. Near as I can tell there is no drip (other then me that is). I have the nut as lose as I dare, Any thoughts or ideas or is this...
