    Yamaha F250 Thermostats

Slimbo, Sorry about my slow response but glad you replied. Thus I "assume" that this is normal and that there is not something wrong that I should dive into further.

    Yamaha F250 Thermostats

Pulled my thermostats on my 2009 Yamaha F250 and one looked terrible, all clogged with scale and whatever, and the other one looked good. The Port thermostat was all clogged and the starboard one was clean. Replaced them both with new ones. Wondering why one was bad and the other was good...

    Yamaha after market outboard thermostats

Has anyone tried any of the Yamaha after market thermostats? I have a F250 and the ones on EBay are $11 vs $34 ???

    Location of Yamaha 250 Anodes

I have a 2009 F250BTXR Yamaha and need to replace the engine anodes. I found the 2 on each of the cylinder heads where the spark plugs go and they were pretty bad. Engine has 350 hours on it and don't think they were ever replaced. Where are the remaining 7 anodes located? The drawings show...

    Honda BF2AM water in oil

I just used Google search and put in the Honda seal number and a number of sites popped up including Replacementparts.com They were the only one that had the seals in stock. :)

    Honda BF2AM water in oil

Attached are 2 pics showing where the water goes. It enters where I have colored white and then fills that whole compartment with cooling water. This includes the bottom of the oil pan where the driveshaft goes into the crankshaft. Again, the only thing preventing the water from coming in...

    Honda BF2AM water in oil

The water seal is the only thing that prevents pumped water from touching the crankshaft. If it fails water hits the steel crankshaft and it rusts, causing the oil seal to fail. I can send you pics if you like.

    Honda BF2AM water in oil

Well, I lucked out and found the seal on Replacementparts.com. I was able to remove the old seals easily without halving to take off the oil pan. Now I must sand the rust off the crank so the oil seal will seal. Very poor design by Honda. I think the water pump is producing too much pressure...

    Honda BF2AM water in oil

Well, thanks again for all your input. I removed the extension case and, just like Jgmo said the only thing the water does is cool the exhaust. No water goes up into the engine block. Right there is the water seal. It prevents water from touching the steel crankshaft. The seal is around the...

    Honda BF2AM water in oil

Jgmo, The sealer did nothing. There is now a a large puddle of oil below the motor :( Just because they say the water seal is not available does not mean that no one has one. I'll start calling Honda outboard dealers to see if I can find one....................after I get the engine apart...

    Honda BF2AM water in oil

Yes, the air is just exiting through the exhaust. Unfortunately, the water seal (part # 91203-ZV0-003) is not available, but the oil seal is. What I am going to do is to put some gasket/seal expander in the oil and run the motor for a while. It may expand the oil seal just enough to keep the...

    Honda BF2AM water in oil

jgmo, Ran a little test. Not sure what it means butttttttt dropped the lower unit and hooked up a hose to the water inlet tube. Introduced compressed air into the water tube. No air came out of the oil fill/drain?????? How is it that water can get in the oil but air can't????

    Honda BF2AM water in oil

Jgmo, Thanks for your input. You gave me a lot to think about!! I might add that the water was getting into the oil when I had the motor on a stand and the lower unit in a bucket of water. I will check out your links closely. Thanks again for your time.

    Honda BF2AM water in oil

I have a 1997 Honda BF2AM outboard that I picked up. It runs great buttttt is getting water in the oil. I see that it has an "oil flicker" instead of an oil pump, I assume similar to a 4-Stroke lawn motor. Looking at the diagrams it appears that the cylinder head has no water chambers in it...

    Yamaha F250 Anodes

I have a 2009 Yamaha F250 BTXR Outboard and want to check/replace the anodes on the upper motor. The motor has 350 hours on it and I don't know if the anodes were ever replaced or cleaned. Looks like quite a job to get to them, but I can handle it. My question is do I need to replace all of...

    Yamaha F250 water pump procedure

I have a 2009 Yamaha F250BTXR motor and I am going to replace the water pump impeller. Done this before on many other motors but I have a procedure question. Rather than leave the shift in Neutral for the procedure I was thinking that I should put it in Forward or Reverse before beginning. My...

    Cabela's Prop C441323

I have a SS Cabela's prop # C441323. It is a SS 4-Blade prop. 15 Splines, 13.5" in diameter. No other markings on it except the C441323. Does anyone know what outboards it would fit?? Thanks

    Mice got in the motor

Power wash it. I do that to all the motors I buy. Don't take the power head off unless absolutely necessary. If the motor was used in salt water you probably won't be able to get the power head off without breaking bolts and destroying stuff. I would remove the carb and check it out. Lower...
