Yamaha F250 Thermostats

Pulled my thermostats on my 2009 Yamaha F250 and one looked terrible, all clogged with scale and whatever, and the other one looked good. The Port thermostat was all clogged and the starboard one was clean. Replaced them both with new ones. Wondering why one was bad and the other was good???? They looked like they both were the same vintage and replaced at the same time.

Now that you mention it, I have had similar encounters with 250 and 300's seems to be the port side stat that fails much more frequently......maybe due to the direction/path of water flow...

Sorry about my slow response but glad you replied. Thus I "assume" that this is normal and that there is not something wrong that I should dive into further.
