    Fuel tank corrision

The big problem with buying new tanks is that they will have to be custom-made. In my case, the tank is under the front floor, and triangulated, multiple ways, and it was cheaper to fix it than make a new one. Bruce.

1983 v-6 OMC Stringer Sterndrive shifted outwards

From looking at the pictures you posted of the engine mountings on the Stringers, they aren't that low that would be causing the problem you described. That is, unless the whole Stringer has collapsed. In replacing all the rotten plywood in my boat, I simply made measurements and patterns of...

Engine Rough Idle when Cold 1983 v-6

Here is the picture of the completed carby. Cleaned up pretty well, and living in a place where one has the only carburettered Buick V6, and all parts have to come from USA, one has to do what one has to do. Even the Fuel Filter got replaced, but I cleaned out the container and that is like...

Engine Rough Idle when Cold 1983 v-6

Oh boy, what a philosophy, and must have a lot of money to toss around. Me, I will rebuild a carby that is full of crud, just like the one on my Buick V6 that was full of crud that came after sitting for 8 years. Cleaned out the Fuel Pump, tank and replaced the lines, and is running...

    Stern Drive Exhaust Seal

G'day all, I have been trying to purchase a replacement Seal for my Electric Shift Stringer OMC Stern Drive, and cannot seem to locate one anywhere. The Seal I am after is the one between the Upper Gearcase Housing, and the Exhaust Housing. That is Seal No. 32 in the attached picture...

    Using the Flushing Adaptor Kit

G'day all, When using the available Flushing Adaptor kit that replaces one of the hinge covers on the Stern Drive, is one not supposed to run the engine when flushing out the Salt Water from the cooling system? The reason I ask is that by running the engine, with the fresh water inlet...

    Heat Exchanger location

G'day all, I know I have asked this question before, but I thought it about time to get a definite response. What place in the boat is the best location for a Tube type water to water Heat Exchanger? My engine is a Buick 155 HP V6, and I can mount it about anywhere, so where is best...

    Using the Flushing Adaptor Kit

G'day all, I am wondering about the usage of the Flushing Kits that is sold for the OMC Stringer Stern Drives. Are they supposed to be used with the engine turned off, and simply having the hose turned on at the tap, so the Raw water is simply flushed out of the unit with Fresh Clean Water...

    Re-routing Exhaust

G'day all, I was wondering what your collective thoughts are on the pros and cons of re-routing the Exhaust Outlet on my Seasport 16 Gull Wing with 155 HP V6 from the Leg to directly out the Transom. I am aware of the problems with water ingest into the engine by reverse-flow when the engine...

    What is this electronic box?

G'day all, I am trying to figure out just what the Motorolla Marine Products box in the picture that is attached to the coil holder is for. My engine is a Buick 155 HP V6, and someone has cable-tied a Resistor to the top of it to possibly by-pass what is inside it. It appears to have been...

"O" Rings for Stern Gear Pivot.

G'day all, I am having trouble with coolant water leaking out from past the "O" Rings that transfer the coolant water from the Leg to the Intermediate Housing on my '72 Stern Drive that uses Ball Gears to transfer the engine drive to the Outdrive. (Picture attached of cover). I have tried...

    Mounting Heat Exchanger

"G'day all, and trust ever "G'day all, and trust everyone had a Merry Christmas, and soon to have a happy New Year. Now, as the heading says, I am about to mount a Heat Exchanger (Tube Type) in my Seasport 16 Gull Wing, and as this is a "New" installation, with no mounting instructions, or...
