    Hi, Quick question. I have an Evinrude 140, 1987. E140TXCUA. Engine will not turn more than 4400 rpm. Idles good. After 2500 or so it acts like its dropping 1 or 2 cylinders, sharp like on/off switch. Many new ign parts. No change. Long story short, compression is 118psi on three cylinders...

    Engine will not idle up

    1987 Evinrude 140 E140txcua. Need to turn idle up a little. Loosened jam nut and turned screw out as per Evinrude service manual. Could see timer base move forward but idle stayed the same. Could the timer base be bad?

    I have an Evinrude 140, 1987, E140TXCUA. Idle is low. Loosened nut and turned screw per Evinrude service manual. I could see timer base move but did not change idle. Could timer base be going bad?

    Carb jets

    I,m confused about the jets on my carbs. It's a 1987 evinrude 140 looper. The port side has #20 for intermediate and #28 for idle. Starboard side has #28 for intermediate and #16 for idle. Is this right?
