Yanmar losing rpm when throttling forward

I've got lift coming for the winter (I live in Finland). I went to go pick up a winter storage mast yesterday on my Finn 26 with Yanmar 1gm engine. Engine starts fine, as I need to gun it when starting getting the high rpms, runs fine while getting ready, check that water is coming out of the exhaust etc. Backs out of the dock fine runs fine on reverse. But then the "problems" start when throttling forwards, even when gas is to the "floor" barely getting over idle RPM. Ran it like that for two minutes and white smoke started to come out of the the exhaust and some oil with a bit of soot. Lowered the rpms, no smoke and everything was fine again expect of course going like 1-2 knots, so turn around and go back, don't want to become a sitting duck or destroy engine if something very serious is going on.

Back to the dock, kept the engine running, idle throttling back and forward getting great RPM and reverse seemed fine as well. Wait for 15 minutes, again engine starts like a dream and throttles fine on ide. Shut the motor off and went out to dry once more and same issue with the forward throttle still.

I looked and the throttle line seems fine and not getting caught, but since revs (get good RPM) in reverse fine, why not forwards? No weird noises are coming and nothing seems differrent other than just the rpms not really going up, it even dips a bit before giving it a lot of throttle, but like I said not much above ide even then.

I'm at a a total loss what the issue could be. Friend is saying that maybe something is caught on the propeller, but that doesn't make too much sense, but I will go into the 12 C water today to go check that option. I'll also try the throttling by hand, but it seems the arm moves fine with the throttle shaft.

Your description is not very clear is many areas...what I have deciphered is your engine can't make above idle RPM while in FORWARD gear but can do so in REVERSE....

So 1st question is this: have you ran the engine in REVERSE for the same period of time as done in FORWARD?

If the issue is can't make above idle RPM after running xx minutes (independent of FWD or REV gear) then I'd suspect its fuel starved and would start changing the fuel filter(s)...and making sure the tank vent is open.
