Yanmar 4JH110 'STP AUX' will not clear

I have a newly-installed 4JH110. There was some kind of short in the connector on the wiring harness to the control panel that fried the connector and panel tachometer. Both have now been replaced, but after all the lights and warning signals come on for 4 seconds and go out, I am left with 'AUX STP' showing on the LCD display. The Auxilliary Stop button on the ECU on the engine has been pressed, released and reset to 'RUN' several times. I have also cut power to the ECU for a few minutes and reconnected, still getting the 'AUX STP' showing. What now?

Ah, yes... the installer, and guarantee... The boat is anchored in the Maldives, where the Yanmar agent is a government-owned company who are non-responsive. I tried to buy an engine from them and couldn't. The engine was shipped in from South Africa (where the dealer was very helpful). Couldn't find anyone in the Maldives to install it, so I did that myself. Guarantee does not activate until a Yanmar-approved engineer validates the engine installation, which hasn't yet happened. I only just got the engine running at 02:30 in the morning of my flight back to Norway. No idea how my agents managed to short out the panel. It was running fine when I left. I see a Yanmar engine diagnostic tool available for about 250 Euro, that might just possibly be able to reset the ECU.

The diagnostic tool may help...would likely be a reasonable investment given your service options.

that said, I would doubt an ECU reset is what is required...but it can't hurt.
