Yammy 225 rusting away

Just read a article in boat us that the 225 built between 2000 and 2004 have a grave problem with the exhaust tube and sometimes the the engines oil pan. The engines exhaust gases corrode these parts away destroying the motor with as little as 500 hours on them, in some cases the oil dip stick can be blown out from the exhaust gas pressure. Yamaha has backed away from this problem saying only that "flush your motor well after each use". Yea rite. My question is, and the article doesn't elaborate, it sounds like they are talking about 4 strokes only here not 2 strokes? Any thoughts on this horror from the far east as i have a 0x66 2001 2 stroke. Thanks.
PS Found the article in oct\nov 2012 boat us magazine.

Not just the F225. Our F200 did the same at ~600hrs, as have others. I believe that this has also been found in F250's and F150's, although in much reduced numbers. Check out the BoatUS website as they are taking Yamaha to task over this on behalf of their members and it appears that after years of denial and/or misleading comments about flushing etc there may be some admission of fault from Yamaha. Note that this problem goes beyond 2004. Maybe up to 2007 or later. Now if only they could get Yamaha to do something about the dodgy oil seal problem as well.

Your S225 two stroke is not in danger. There is a kit available at a reasonable price which has all the necessary parts to repair the exhaust on the F-stroke V6.
