Yamaha Swap out

I have a 1992 Caparral With a Yamaha 3.0 4cyl. I found the freeze plug out this year and the block cracked. The has Water in it. I am willing to try and find a used one but would like to swap it out with a Mercruiser 3.0 4cyl is this possible to just take the Yamaha Out and Put a Used Mercuiser engine in Leaving the stern as it is?

If the base motor is a GM 3.0 litre then yes you can swap it.

BUT you must use everything from the Yamaha that is bolted to that block.

flywheel, coupler, motor mounts, ignition, manifolds and if the exhaust is bad replace it with new if needed, Thermostat housing, flywheel housing (rear motor mounts are part of that) Carburetor, exhaust elbow, Alternator, You may need to swap the valve cover also...

Of course there may be some parts that may be interchangeable but that would be up to you.

The base block if GM is the same.
