I have a 2015 F90LA 1076300. I had no problem last year running it in the ocean. Only ran it about 20 hours. I brought it back to Pa and last month we took it out on fresh water. Once it was warmed up and we went from idling to WOT quickly the overheat alarm went off. If we planned off more gradually it was ok, and I could run at WOT with no problem. If the buzzer went off I shut the key off and if I would restart it, it was ok. I put a new thermostat in. There was some corrosion inside the engine but I would not think enough to cause a blockage. It seemed better at first but them back to the same problem.
It was idling rough especially after running it hard. And then it stalled. So we took it off the water.
I pulled the plugs and they were fouled. I checked the oil and it was overfull. I drained it and it had gasoline in the oil.
I pulled the low pressure pump and It did not hold pressure at 5-10 psi. I replaced it and the impeller. The oil problem seemed to be resolved. I was able to take off fast for a while and run at WOT with no problem but then it started again. It was only after running hard then stopping for a moment and hitting the throttle hard immediately. If I planned off more gradually It would not beep. If this helps when I refilled the oil it was only about 1/4 inch into the cross hatching. I wondering if the oil level goes below the sensor when we plan off fast.
In Florida last year we sometimes go through seaweed and don't know if I may have picked up debris.
I was thinking about taking the lower unit off again in inspecting my installation of the impeller and also trying to back flush from the thermostat housing with a water vinegar solution. Will this harm the engine and is it a good idea.
There is not a temperature gauge on the boat. I was going to get a heat sensor temp gun for short term. I have a Yamaha tach 6Y5-8350T-DO-00 with the temperature on it but don't know if it actually reads temp or just bars. Also I have a speedometer 6Y5-83570-AO-00. Both of these are from another boat and about 3 years old. I wondered if this would be possible to hook these gauges up and how. I wondered if there is some type of adapter for the wiring . Do I need different sensors. The current gauges are just the speedometer, tach, volts, and gas.
Or should I just get a temp gauge.? One other thing. The engine has white exhaust after I ran it hard and then went to idle. This would clear after idling. The gas is non-ethanol but it sat since last August. I suspect when I burn this fuel off it will go away. The compression is 130/135/140/140. leak down tested ok.
Sorry this is long and many questions
Thanks for any help
