The motor will start and sort

The motor will start and sort of run at idle setting but soon cuts out as the accelerator is advanced. Then needs choke to restart. The motor is in good condition and not done much work. I cleaned the carb and checked jets etc. but problem still exists. The filter seems clear. I have a carb kit on order but not sure if that will help. Any other ideas?
 
Have you inspect tank and prim

Have you inspect tank and primer bulb ? fuel pump ? its sounds like a lean condition.

"Hi, thanks for the advice. The primer bulb and tank seem to be fine. During running I tried gently squeezing the bulb to assist petrol flow but it still cut out. I am hoping that the carb kit will solve the problem and it should be arriving soon. The sudden change in performance was what really puzzles me.
