I purposefully ran engine out

I purposefully ran engine out of gas and left set for 7 months. It is now running rough when I accelerate over 2300-2500 rpm. Sometimes it seems to smooth out if I accelerate full (4100 rpm) and then throttle back to 3500 rpm. Runs smooth at idle. I have used various additives to no avail. Seems as if it is starving for fuel but not sure. I don't know how to adjust fuel or if that is an option. I can't find any sign of unusual air intake.

"Thanks. I installed new plugs first, then checked filters. I replaced squeeze bulb as well. I see no leaks and wonder how one would adjust carbs for lean and rich. I really can't think of anything else. I appreciate the interest. I also drained the carb bowls and with the squeeze bulb forced fuel through while drain screw was removed."
