can anyone help me please as i haven't found any information on them at all,

I have cleaned the carb and the electrical connections that i can see/get to.

any information would be greatfully recieved,

Thanks in advance

"Way back between 1964-79 Yama

"Way back between 1964-79 Yamaha produced two, 2 horse models - the P-45 and the 2A, so you have an "old" one - not quite antique, but definately not modern.

They also produced Mercury's Mariner model 2M between 1974-78 which was exactly the same motor.

It sounds like you have an ignition problem (coil, condenser or points) and unfortunately none of them are in production or available any longer from a dealer.

I may have some test specs around to see if you can isolate what isn't working, but will have to do some digging.

If it is an ignition part that is shot, you may have quite the challenge locating what you are after - which leads me to believe this is why the motor ended up on Ebay in the first place..."

"thanks for the info,

I was

"thanks for the info,

I was starting to think that as some of the bolts have been replaced with stainless and look new. the shop where i got it from said it was running but they didnt say wen,

i have a friend who's an electrician and has an interest in boats, he said he will look at it for me, as long as it has a spark am sure i could get it running, it does lok like a good little engine,

"i have a spark now, i thought

"i have a spark now, i thought the kill switch would break the circuit in order to stop the engine, but i just though to stop the engine i wonder if the switch breaks the circuit, so i disconnected the stop switch and hey presto i have a spark, should have it running at weekend, i just need a fuel cap"
