Yamaha 2000 25 hp tilt lock

i purchased a 2000+ model 2 stroke 25 hp yamaha outboard with low hrs. the manual tilt lock susposed to lock the motor down so while trailer the motor it wont pop up? in the up or down postion of the tilt switch the motor will pop up i have to put it in reverse to keep it from poping while trailer the boat this cant be good for the motor.

Lube up that pin, i have seen some of them brake
