I have a 20 hp yamaha two stroke which I believe to be a 1984 model. It has very few hours on it. I bought it two years ago and it ran flawlessly. Lately it has become very hard to start. I have traced the issue to a sticking needle in the carb. This needle has no mechanical connection to the float. The needle itself has a tiny spring loaded pin in its center which contacts the float thru gravity. Dealerships cannot find this needle in their parts catalogue. The carb is a Teikei. Has anyone dealt with this and possibly knows of a source or possibly a replacement type needle and seat?
