Hi please can someone shed some light on my ongoing problem.
I have a yamaha 9.9 2 stroke 2003 model pull start the problem is that my electrician friend rewired the whole boat for me and i asked him if he could take a charge from the engine to the battery so i didnt have to keep taking the battery home which runs the vhf/lights etc.He checked it out and found that there was a wire on the engine that was giving 6 to 7 volts out so i thought great all my battery problems were over but the electrician friend told me he didnt want to connect it to the battery because it was only giving out that voltage not 12 volts and was unsure that connecting to a 12 volt battery could possibly damage the engines electrical system then he was unsure wheather that 6 or 7 volts would be enough to keep the battery charged.please can anybody help with my problem i would be very greatfull as this has been ongoing since october. many thanks paul
