Hey guys, Yamaha 25hp 1991 ESHP

my starter relay I thought was what needed fixing. I bought a new starter relay Yamaha genuine. Now I get 12 volts @ my battery. I get 12v from my battery to the left post of starter relay but when I hit the start button no transfer of power, no click. Any ideas?

Lack of control circuit power to the relay. Or a defective ground to the relay.

how does one know if the ground is defective? would lack of control come from faulty switch? or something deeper in the unit?

Use wee jumper wire.-----Go from battery post on solenoid to one of the small terminals on the solenoid ( relay ) and post what happens
