Yamaha 04' F150 missing/sputtering

Hey folks, I am inheriting my dad's 2004 G3 V185WT boat with a 2004 Yamaha F150 on it. This has been a tremendously good engine but it is having an issue right now as I took it out for the first time since he passed. It starts and idles perfectly but as soon as you give it throttle it starts missing and sputtering. I changed the plugs(the bottom 2 were a bit dirty and smelled a bit like fuel) today as well as the primary fuel filter. Started it up and the issue is still there. The fuel is clean so I went in further and took the VST tank out, the tank is VERY clean inside, the inline filter looks clean, though the filter attached to the bottom of the pump is a bit dirty. I ordered both of those filters(might as well change them) and will have those next week.

Thoughts on what the issue might be? Fuel pressure regulator? I can order that but it's rather expensive. Is there maybe a fuel filter/water separator in the boat itself? I know these G3's aren't common and I can't find anything on a filter or anything on the boat itself. Possibly a bad injector?

Any input would be appreciated, learning as I go as my dad was the really handy one, me not as much.

Ben

Gotcha, I was thinking about ordering that as well but it looks almost perfectly clean. Might as well though while I have it apart. Where did you find that diagram?

Usually it causes the problem due to that filter. If you want to test it, remove the filter, plug the hose directly AND TRY IT. I worked as a mechanic at Yamaha dealership for 6 years.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I just got everything back together all new filters in and started the motor. She’s still chugging even at idle. I may have to actually put it out in the water to see how it runs. Does the system need time to re-prime after having the fuel system apart?
