XDP boot leaked caused corrosion

"I'm ready to buy a 2005 30' cruiser with 5.0 XDP's, 120 hrs, dry stored. I had the dealer perform the 100 hr service. They found the port side gimble and other internals corroded due to a boot that leaked. They replaced all the components, I asked them to save the parts so I could verify. Question, should I be concerned about water ingress anywhere else? engine? lower?"

"Due to the small size of the ridge on the bellows and the shallow groove it mates in on the XDP drive I beleive this is a factory/Manufacturers defect. It also is fairly widespread and has happened to both factory trained and non-trained technicians. However Volvo has not yet admitted a problem or taken corrective action on the new XDP drives. A shame because otherwise it seems to be a very robust unit, plastic or not."
