"Hi; re 1992 15 h.p. I blew a piston, bored out the cylinder and am about to re-assemble... but have a glitch. There is a spacer/washer on each side of the needle bearings on the wrist pin - inside the piston. You'd think the spacer would go between the rod and the inside of the piston, but they actually ride just inside the rod and against the needles. On the blown piston, one of the spacers was destroyed and I didn't think to get new ones when ordering parts, so I'm held up for the ten cent spacer - which will take me some time to get here in southern Vermont. I would really like to put this back together and although those spacers have a purpose (?), am wondering if I can either skip the spacers, or try to find a substitute locally - like from another type of engine? Any ideas that would keep me moving forward would be very helpful. Thanks
Grant"

"Well... on to plan B. I found and ordered the part. I've gotten these parts through Sierra before and they were packaged together (needles and the spacers). The needles for this engine were only available from OMC, and I didn't check to see that the washers were a separate item number. My amateur stupidity. On reflection, I wasn't really going to put it together without the spacers... or was I?"
