Would Seafoam affect Portable Fuel Lines

I decarbed my 5.5Hp Johnson (1961) with about 300mL of Seafoam in 1.5 Litres of gas/oil mix. I ran it through my engine using my portable fuel tank and a regular portable fuel line/primer bulb system. I then let it sit for about 2 hours with some seafoam in the cylinders etc.

When I fired it up again it ran for a few minutes. I then switched fuel tanks (one without seafoam) and very soon thereafter my motor stopped. I did a few things to determine it was a fuel issue and eventually changed my portable fuel line and the problem went away. When I changed it back the problem returned telling me my fuel line is malfunctioning.

My question is: Does seafoam hurt these devices and if so can anyone help me diagnose where the problem is or how to fix it? I always appreciate your thoughts.

It may have lossened up some trash and clogged up your line. I put it in my fuel regulary as it helps keeps carbon down and is a conditioner like Sta-bil. Good stuff!

Sea-foam will not do damage to

Sea-foam will not do damage to any fuel lines it will loosen up crap and it most likely got clogged from that stuff.
The junk most likely is in the outlet connection at the end of the hose that connects to the motor.

Sea-foam is a good stablizer and cleaner. I won't use nothing else but that and I run 10 different size motors and brands

"i recently used sea foam and at 1st suspected that it deteriotated the line coming from a 18 gallon built in gas tank to the external inline filter..the stuff the filter caught looked just like rubber..i cut some spare hose off and inspected...it was clean and in good shape..i now think the stuff was crud from the tank it cleaned out..the filter in the motor looked clean but i had hi speed jet problems that i am sure was some of the crud...highly intermittent...i changed the filter that caught the crud..i replaced the hose, bulb and fitting between the filter and the motor.was due anyway..i sprayed a small amount of carb cleaner in the jets.."

to continue...this was my 1st time to use sea foam but the tank is 14 years old..i should have and will use it more often..i would recommend putting a inline filter on your motor..i use the one from walmart that has a glass tube and comes with 3 filter elements..i would not run the gas out of the motor..any of that crud that gets thru to carbs needs to stay soft..if it hardens up you looking at pulling carbs..

i just put 2 hours on motor this morning..most at wot..i think i ok..please post what you find..ty Carl

"I suspected that it might be

"I suspected that it might be some crud from my gas tank since it is an old metal one. I pushed in the little nozzle at the motor end and squeezed the bulb and fuel seem to rush out, so it is not a complete obstruction.

My other thoughts are the O-ring seals on the connectors. Perhaps I have an air leak in the line at one of these seals. How does one pop these O-rings out to look at them?"

i would replace hose...bulb...

i would replace hose...bulb...connectors...they are available from this site..thats just my opinion...i have bought stuff from these people and they are prompt and reliable..quality stuff delivered to your doorstep and no gas spent on trip and running around looking for whatever you need..i would replace because i have had problems that you couldnt eyeball with these things..i would throw that tank away also..respectfully..carl
