I have a 40hp mariner outboard that will not shut off. I understand that it is actually a Yamaha. I located the white wire that is supposed to be the engine off system. It is connected to the ignition switch and the other end goes into the regulator/rectifier. If I touch a ground to this wire the engine stops. If this is what it needs to do how is it supposed to get the ground signal?
