I have a 1977 85 hp Mariner ge

I have a 1977 85 hp Mariner getting fuel has spark has compression wont even offer or try to start...any suggestions?

"I need help i have a 77 mariner 85hp that wont even offer has spark on 3 of the 4 clynders has fresh gas good compression i THINK i should get a offer on 3 clynders i even tried starting fliud in the spark plug holes, This boat ran perfect when parked 2 years ago. Any suggestions whould be greatly appericated i dont really want to spend 90.00 hour to take to shop if i can avoid it Thanks much Dave"

"Pull the plugs. Kill the ignition, then wheel it over with the plugs out. Then install new (or cleaned) plugs and try again. Repeat as many times as necessary until it starts.

That no fire on one cylinder is a concern, however. If that motor has 4 individual coils, one may be shot.

I did try that and got no offe

I did try that and got no offer i even tried new plugs. It does have 4 coils number 2 is bad but i think i should get a offer out of 3 clynders. Thanks very much for the advice

PS: You might try spraying ether or carb cleaner in the carbs. Don't go nuts doing it that way, for there's no oil in it."
 
its does spark on 3 clynders b

its does spark on 3 clynders but doesnt even try to offer i also tryed ether in the carbs and in plug holes no luck at all. Thanks Dave

"You should be able to check t

"You should be able to check the timing with a timing light if you can crank the engine. Sometimes you will see spark, but if the switchbox is bad, the spark can be way off. If you have a spark tester (so you can watch all cylinders simultaneously) sometimes you will notice that all are firing at the same time."
 
Seems like plugs are getting a

Seems like plugs are getting a little gas on them and i also tried putting mixed fuel in the clynders and didnt get any offer or anything out of it. Thanks Dave
 
I watched the plugs fire and i

I watched the plugs fire and it seems like they are all fireing at the same time not like its traveling around from plug to plug but i do know that my number 2 coil is bad it dont spark at all unless i switch it with a differnt one. but i think i should get it to offer on 3 clynders. I THINK Thanks Dave

Do you think this could be a bad switchbox i am not exactly sure what that does or what would you change first. Thanks Dave
