won't crank again

here i am almost answering my own post with more questions, pertaining to bravo 3 big block won't crank.
a good friend of mine thinks it is significant that all the cylinders on the starboard side were full of water. he doesn't think that a cracked head, block, or gasket would fill all the cylinders on one side. he believes that it must be coming in the exhaust manifolds somehow. any thoughts?

dockside,
i am finally getting this thing apart, exhaust manifolds and risers look ok.
there was water in the manifolds, seemed like in the exhaust port side. cranked it again and got water out of the plug holes again! now the only source of water to the cylinders should be the heads. sure hope this isn't the case.

Hey diamondl, sorry about your problems. Not very familiar with Bravo III but was trying to stir up some thoughts.
Does the boat have thru hull exaust? If so does it have water exaust shutters? Could they be melted right out of pipes? I figured I would throw it in there, maybe nothing to do with your problem. good luck, Tom

no such luck, today's exercise will be looking for the flapper valves.

dockside,
a very interesting concept! my guess is that this is something i won't be able to do at home. closest shop is 130 miles away and probably very busy right now being spring and all. i could see signs of water running down from the gasket between the risers and the manifold, i wonder if that could be the problem?
again thanks for the help

OK. Take a small Ball-peen hammer and smack the manifolds and the risers matting surfaces. Even if they look good this will tell you if they are good. If they are bad they will chip apart easily.

To pressure test the manifolds and risers you can make a block off plate from 3/4 plywood. Drill 4 holes to match the bolt pattern cover it with a piece of rubber and pump 15 lbs of air into it. Put soap water on the dry surfaces and look for bubbles.
