"I ran my 2003 115 merc elpto today, ran great...Then Turned it off before trailoring went to restart and acted like it had flooded. This motor has never missed a beat. I trailored by hand I went out to look at it later in the day when I had time and noticed a large amount of black oil coming out everywhere around the Lower unit. The Motor still wouldn't fire. I am not sure but when I pulled the plugs it almost seemed like there was a large amount of fuel built up and possibly moisture, but I am not sure. Please any brainstorming is appreciated. Also it was always spraying water out of the cooling area but it wasn't as strong as normal could it have over heated and caused this?"

"Sounds like it flooded and the gas washed all the burnt/unburnt oil (and other cooties) down the exhaust and out the prop.

My guess would be that a float valve stuck when you were coming into the dock and just dumped a bunch of gas into the cylinders.

Take the plugs out, let it dry out a bit, maybe throw in some new plugs and it should fire. There is a chance that it will unstick itself (if that's what happened), or alternately, the carbs may need a disassembly and good clean out.

Take the hood off, and remove any cover from the carbs so you can "look down their throats". Then pump up the bulb on your fuel line. If the float is stuck gas will start puking out of the throat of the offending carb. If nothing happens, but the bulb gets really stiff, the clog is already cleared...

You could try running seafoam in your gas or stablizer at the very least - helps prevent clogs..."
