Wiring problems on '85 champion

I'm trouble shooting why my dash lights stay on when the ignition is turned off. It began when someone used a charger on my main battery. Now, the electric choke and dash lights stay on constantly. The ignition switch is brand new, replaced after the problem began. Any help is appreciated

Was it the same ignition switch ?

Was it the same ignition switch ?

Yes, same model. All this began before installing the new ignition switch. When tracing the wires, the original ignition switch connections were in had shape, but the wires, about an inch away from the switch, looked in good condition on into the port on the inside where they run back to the motor.
