Will a 1993 Mercury Mariner 40

Will a 1993 Mercury Mariner 40 hp 4 cyl. start with wiring harness disconnected? Why or why not?

"Clarence, did you find the wire we talked about on the switchbox? There is 1 wire if you disconnect it, it will be the same as running without the harness. It is ussually black with a yellow stripe. I'm sorry I can't be of further help, maybe you could take a pic of the switch box so we can help."

"I found the black and yellow wire and disconnected it. Still no spark. Everything seem to check out, I am thinking it's the switchbox, voltage going in, nothing coming out. How do the switchbox work?"
