Wiring for trimtilt

"I have a Merc 898, GM 305. Trim/Tilt gauge does not work on console. Have replaced sender and limit switch on outdrive. Cannot find old wires to attach new set of wires to. Have looked and traced wiring from center console, but cannot find same color of wire. The old wires is gone from the pump to the sender/limit switch. Any ideas where to attach new wires??? I have manual with wiring diagram but does not match-up with what I have."

The trim position sender has a

The trim position sender has a black wire that is grounded to the terminal next to the main engine breaker. The other black wire whould have a brown sleeve on it and it is connected to the brown w/white stripe at the same terminal.

The trim limit switch has a wire w/a purple sleeve that connects to a purple w/white stripe wire on the power trim wire harness from the shift commander assy. or 3 button trim control and the wire w/a blue sleeve connects to the connector w/2 blue w/white stripe wires on one side of it. One blue/white stripe wires goes to the power trim 3 wire plug and the other one goes to the blue w/white stripe wire on the power trim wire harness from the shift commander assy. or 3 button trim control.
