So I toasted my 1975 omc electric shift lower vertical drive shaft this past weekend. I got it all apart and need new shaft, bearings, and seals. About $500 bucks worth. So I found a complete stern drive on Craigslist by me for $400

So here is what I have: 1975 190 hp v8 low profile omc electric shift

What I found on Craigslist: 1968 v6 high profile omc electric shift

I am just needing the lower not the upper from the Craigslist drive. Will the 1968 lower work with the 1975 upper. I can't find any info saying they will or won't. I know the upper cant be used. All reman lowers say they fit 67-77. Just want to make sure before I go check it out. Thanks

Should match up, i never tried doing it though. Before you hand over the money make sure .

At this point i would consider is this setup really worth keeping. Just a question you should be asking yourself.

Well the boat was free to me and have 700 into it now. I just want to get it runnin again. I don't want to throw a lot of money into a tri hull but it would be nice to cruise the lake again.

The lower electric shift units were essentially all the same as long as it is the big housing , so it should fit.
