Will this conrod fit this engine

"Will a conrod from a 1992 115

"Will a conrod from a 1992 115hp Xflow fit into a 115hp 1996 Eagle powerhead??
Physical dimensions are the same.
But the eagle rod has 3 holes around the big end.
Part numbers for both engines supercede to the same number, but is this a case of you can use the new rod on an older engine but not an old rod on a newer engine.
What do the experts think??"

"The general rule when it comes to 'supersede' is that the newer number will replace the old one and fit on older engines, but even if old ones 'fit' on a newer, it may not be recommended.
That is the case here."
