"I have a 1990 150 hp Johnson that has all the indications of a defective regulator. The tach stopped working, I only have 12.4-12.7 volts at the voltmeter and I performed the ohm test from the manual and have continuity all ways to the regulator. If I continue to run the motor will the bad regulator cause any other harm to the motor or boat electronics? I'd like to pull the boat and do some other work while waiting for the regulator to arrive. The closest ramp is a little over five nm away. Thanks, John"

The ignition and charge system

The ignition and charge systems are separated and does not share any components that may cause dammage across.
