" Other more experienced folks may be able to offer a better explination on this than I but I will give it a shot. There is an opening at the bottom of your exhaust housing just above the prop, which when running is just a bit below the water line. Most of the water that is being pumped through your motor is going to exit there, and uner a WOT with the movement of the motor through the water I would guess that there would be a vacume formed by the water passing over that opening that is going to dictate that almost, if not, all of the water is going to exit through that opening.
Dont take my word alone on this, and definately dont take what I am saying over anyone else in here, I am a vintage OMC new guy, but there are a lot of old hands in here that can offer advice with a lot more clout.
Try and target Joe Reaves. He has about 30 years with OMC and quite frankly I think his word is gospel.
In short I dont think you have a problem, especially if everything feels cool.
The newer motors are built, most of them, with a weep hole that should spray a stream of water at all times but the older ones had that opening above the water to let exhaust out at an idle, without the motor having to force all of it out through the water at a stand still.
I hope I am not giving you bad info here. I dont think I am ...... but I will be watching this post to see others answers both for you and for me.
anyone have anything to add ???? "
