" I have an '82 Johnson 14

" I have an '82 Johnson 140 Seahorse V4. When I bought the Skeeter 16.8 foot boat from this dude, it had an extra prop. The prop on the motor right now is a 4 blade, and the spare is a 3 blade. With the 4 blade and 5 on board, it takes a bit to get out of the hole. About 30-35 indicated does it. What is the three blade prop for? "

The prop attaches to the moto

The prop attaches to the motor but fits the boat. You need to get a tachometer and test props with the 4 or 5 people in the boat. You want a prop that lets the motor run at 5400 rpm full throttle. The three blade prop will allow the motor to rev up quicker and it will develop horse power quicker. If you are confused it is best to seek out advice. With too small a prop the motor will rev too high and destroy itself.Of course the condition of the boat and the motor also come into play.
