which outdrive ?

hi all thanks for all the help so far ......



i have 1988 4.3 mercruiser im putting into a bayliner, the drive is a alpha 1 and so is the gimble the drive i have is in a poor state of repair and am looking at replacing it as it may be cheaper than fixing up the one i have

thye question is can i put a alpha gen 2 drive on the alpha 1 gimble and can i put different gear ratios on ?

ive been offered a gen 2 with a gear ratio of 2 to 1 will this work ?

the prop i have is a hive five stainless 13.25 x 21 pitch

i think the gear is 1.84


any help from the gurus would be fantastic

as a direct bolt on ,No.The lower shift shaft in the gimbal would have to be changed. The mounting for the rams is also different.

Nope,.... Ya need an Alpha 1, the Gen.II won't fit yer gimbel,....
