"At the risk of sounding like a moron, whats the easiest way to find tdc? if the order is 1,3,4,2,then should I put the longest wire to the furthest back which would be number 2 ?"

OK listen carefully

take the dist cap off.

IGNITION KEY OFF AND OUT OF IGNITION SWITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DISCONECT + BATTERY CABLE FROM BATTERY!!!!!!!!!

Remember you said "MORON" not me

Now look at the large pully ot the lower front of the engine.
there should be a pointer on the engine cover or a notch on the pully. there should be a group of numbers 0 4 8 12 etc.

You want to spin the motor over by HAND until the notch/pointer line up to ZERO!

look at the rotor and which way it points. if it is pointing towards the front of the motor then that is where plug wire 1 goes on the cap. If it is not pointing to the front continue to spin the motor over until ZERO is reached again and it will or should be pointing to the front.
then install the rest of the wires in a C'Clockwise rotaion in there firing order.

Is this something you can do? Let us know

You're almost there. Loosen all the plugs to make turning easy. Use a breaker bar and socket on the crankshaft pulley and turn the engine in the direction that it cranks w/starter.

A better was is to wedge a screwdriver in between 2 of the 4 pulley bolts and turn the engine that way
