"Hi guys...
I'm going to be adding in a depth alarm to my boat (not for fishing, just for rocks). I have an old IMPULSE brand of one in my old boat, and the problem with it is that I could never hear the thing go off because it was too quiet. It was mounted right at the steering wheel and you still couldn't hear it when slowly motoring along. I'm looking at a Faria brand of one simular in style (but not brand) to my other gauges to put in my new boat. I want to get it with a through hull sensor to mount it under the engine area. Are the Faria ones fairly loud? I want to hear this thing when it goes off. Any concerns about mounting it to the inside of the hull under the engine area?

Thanks

"I have a new Faria depth soun

"I have a new Faria depth sounder with gauge that uses mineral oil as a signal coupler between the transducer and inside hull. Alarm is very high pitched and loud and depth is very accurate.

In order to shoot a signal thru the hull your boat hull must be made of solid fiberglass. If it has a sandwich core hull you can't use it. Some newer boats use the sandwich core hull to reduce weight.

This site has depth sounder w/transom transducer.

Below is a wholesaler of gauges. I purchased 8 new Faria gauges for under $200.
