I have a 1994 Volvo Penta 5.7 GI-PMDA. I was doing my spring tune up and noticed something that looks like some sort of sending unit on top of the oil filter. It's not the oil pressure sending unit because its below that.

Re: Where's the oil switch?

Its part of the alarm circuit and only allows the electric fuel pump to run when the engine does on electric fuel pump equipped engines..

Re: Where's the oil switch?

The wire that connects it has not been connected since last season. If it's what you say, then should I still be able to use the boat with it disconnected? here's a closer picture of the connection.

Re: Where's the oil switch?

Just went out to look at it again. I unscrewed it and there was oil on the tip. There is a single tan wire that connects to it. Maybe tan/black, I can't tell too good because it's a bit dirty. Anyway it'll have to be replaced because the connection to it has broken off in the female spade connector that it connects to. But i'm going to need to know what it is before I can replace it.
