Where would the theromstat be

We have a 1972 Johnson outboa

We have a 1972 Johnson outboard motor 100hp. Question is where would the theromstat be located at? Replaced water pump but still overheating. Any help would be appreciated.

At the back of the engine and

At the back of the engine and just below the exhaust cover.
