where do you connect the tach

where do you connect the tach signal wire on a 1983 merc 70 hp 3 cyl? someone said to the grey wire at the key but this wire isn't connected to anything at the engine side of the wiring harness. which wire on the switchbox is the correct one? or do you connect to the switchbox at all?

" It should be connected to the rectifier. There should be two yellow wires, from the stator under the flywheel. Follow these to a small box like component with three terminals. One terminal should have a red wire and the other two should have the yellow wires from the stator. Connect the gray wire to either yellow terminal. The rectifier is part of your charging system, and this is where the tach picks up its signal. "
