Where do you get power for magneto powered hour meter?

Now that I've rebuilt my motor, I'd like to install an hour meter. I'd like to do a tidy little install in the lower cowl or on the motor itself. I don't wan't to use the ignition (run) wire. I've found some small meters that run on magneto power. Would that come off the primary ignition wire or the lighting coil wire?


P.S. No, I'm not interested in a tinytach. I already have a tach, and don't care for the sealed battery.Thanks anyway.

I'm posting this just for those that search these threads for answers; I know what it's like.
I found power off or the 2 lighting (charging) coil wires; the same two (green on my Mariner) signal wires that the tach use. I used a curcit tester to feel my way around. Every thing else will give you power when the key is on even if the motor is not running. One signal wire and a ground will give you power only when the motor is running, but it pulses. Both signal wires give you a steady power supply for an hour meter only when the motor runs. I don't know if you can do this with all hour meters; the one I bought was good for 4/40VAC/VDC and can run off a magneto.

I do not have a stator as I have a magneto and a lighting coil (see attachments). I believe that I was able to get AC power buy using the two lighting coil leads ,as you said.
