i have an older model johnson

i have an older model johnson i bought late last year i just wanted to find out what year it was. i took it out on the water and it went great for about 1 mile then started to bog down and i could never reach top end after that also i could not crank the motor anymore the starter would not engage it would just let out a clicking noise i can see my luck has started already this year i would appreciate anyones help i would love to able to fish sopmetime this year its been a long 6 months the model number is rdsl-250 and the serial number is c386728 thanks

RDSL-25..... 1963..... 40hp. I dont see a RDSL-250 on this sites model number guide.

thanks pale-o-fish i did find someone with a book it was a rdsl-25d i guess it is the eye sight that goes first lol. i talked to someone about the problems im having and there sayin it could be a carb problem or an ignition switch they also said it would be costly to fix about 400$ does anyone think its worth fixing this motor ?? i do have about 450$ invested in it already ..
 
You did replace the waterpump

You did replace the waterpump impeller before you took it out?That is a must do on any newly purchased motor.
