"Hi everyone. I hope someone can help me. We have just bought a Johnson boat motor it is a 9.5 outboard, . The only numbers we can find is :
J3754257 on the motor.
50-143 310102DT on the Housing.
We are trying to figure out what year this is. I hope someone can help us figure this out.

"No offense intended but the "Introduces" code does not pertain to the 9.5hp models.

There should be a plate on the port transom bracket with the model and serial number. Those numbers may also be on a small core plug on the powerhead (looks like a quarter size freeze out plug).

The Johnson model numbers of the 9.5hp would be MQ-10 1964, MQ-11 1965, MQ-12 1966, MQ-13 1967, MQ-14 1968. On 1969 thru 1973, the Johnson model numbers changed to another form as 9R69 thru 9R73 whereas the last two digits revealed the year."
