" To anyone. I just recently purchased a 150 hp evinrude outboard motor .Ram Ficht 2006 EPA standard. The cover is blue with red lettering.Model E150 FPLSIF ser#G04905326. I was told by a sale rep (not evinrude) that it's a 2001 model, but when I looked at the plate attached to the motor, under the ser# I noticed CE 07-2000. Does this mean it was made in July 2000 and that the motor is a 2000 and not 2001. The motor itself works great, extremely fuel efficient, however was I misled by the sales clerk? "

"Mike.... The "SI" wit

"Mike.... The "SI" within the model number (Model E150 FPLSIF) would indicate that the year of engine is a 2001. The code is the word "INTRODUCES" whereas each letter coincides with a number... I=1, N=2, T=3, etc etc. S=0, and I=1..."01" (2001). I have no idea what that plate is but I would be concerned about it. If your paperwork states 2001 and you have the warranty, just enjoy the engine etc.

" Joe thanks for the info. The plate I referred to is no more than 1 by 2 inches, engraved on it is the ser # and Model # as well as CE 07-2000, it looks stock. Is there another place on the motor where I can find a matching serial number. "

"Mike.... Look on the powerhead itself. There should be a core plug somewhere (looks like a quarter sized freeze out plug). That core plug should have the identical numbers on it.

That plate.... I meant to say that "I wouldn't be concerned about it", not that I would be. Sorry for the typo.
