What year is my evinrude?

Good Morning,

I have a 250hp V6 carborated Evinrude outboard motor and I am told it is a 1992 model, I called a local prop distributor for help choosing a prop and he
told me that Evinrude did not make a 250hp V6 prior to 1999, is that a correct statement?
