"I have three outboards,a 81 35 hp short evinrude,a 88 long johnson,and a 90 short 20 johnson with a bad foot .I have a great old 18 foot lund utility boat,435 LBS ,needing a long shaft tiller [the twenty is the only tiller]and its rated for a 40 . Apparantly all these outboards are closely related ,which motor should I use for this boat and yes,they all run perfectly .I beleive I can take the tiller equipment from the 20 and install it on the thirty,and the 35 appears to just need the actual handle since the bosses and gear are located on the housing .Also a friend has the gears available used for my 20 ,[it was run with no oil by the previous owner] ,any issues with good used gears in a different housing [the gears are only a year old ]"
