What side is the shifter

On a boat with twin inboards w

On a boat with twin inboards what side would the shifter and what side would the throttle be on. One is red the other is black on the nobs.

"Normal setup is both black shifters on the left and red throttles on the right. Bayliner made the 4788 backwards for 2 years in the early 90s and people still get confused while manuvering them. Some sportfish boats put the inner as throttles but then you have to use both hands to change settings, better to have them married and you can steer with the left hand.

That's often done so the helmsman can face aft, controlling the boat with one hand on each shifter while reaching back. Usually done while docking stern to.

This also makes throttle control one handed."
