What sets of check engine light

"I have a 1996 90hp v4 johnson

"I have a 1996 90hp v4 johnson been having trble with the check engine light and horn going of I have relaced water pump,new venitrons, check all wires for grds and no proplems found yet I keep getting alarm it comes on when i first start then goes out then comes and go at different times engine runs great no sign of overheating plugs look good I am stumpped on this problem driving me nuts any suggestion of what to look for?"

"your eng,should not be kicking off the ck eng lite,..that is for v6 and commercial engines,that indicate fuel restriction........when it goes of,...disc ea of the senders,till u find the one doing it...u have system ck gauges,correct? if not,what do u have?"

I asume it it is a system check gauge when you say disconnect senders are you refering to heat sensors on heads and what else?

"oil tank wires...hd senders...still goes off unplug vro.........still goes off...ck wiring on horn,if ok,..remove tan wire from it,...still goes off,prob bad horn..but since u r getting a lite,it could be the gauge as well...furthur isolation would be needed."
 
Yes there are four ights maybe

Yes there are four ights maybe not in that order will have to chck when I go out to boat when I first start then they do self check and go out one at a time then the check engine comes back on it may stay on for 2 or three minutes then it goes out for a while then back on
