What Oil Filter? 1978 120hp

Hey Gang. I'm trying to figure out what filter I need. The manual says PF-25 or PER-49. It is for a 78 120. The guy at the parts store had no listing for these filters. I got him to search 1978 GM's with 2.5L and he came up with PH-30. It appears to be the same,but I would like to know for sure before I drain and take the filter off.

It is a Quicksilver . I did'nt try to have the Can-Tire guy cross ref it. I figured he would not be able to as they don't sell those. I thought that I should get an answer fairly quick on this site. I guess I'll just take it off and see if it fits.

The Chief probably has the right one listed but here's what I did

old original OMC pn 173232 which is now 5092902 (Sierra # 18-7824)

Fram listed it's equivalent as PH8773, if you look it up on the Fram website it will list what it replaces

Thanks for all the info. I ended up using the PH-30. It was just a little longer than the old one.

me too ph-30 i paint it 2 or 3 times, cheap spray paint.
