What Octane fuel to use

I see folks take thier trailer

I see folks take thier trailer queen to the local station and use reg. grade gas. The marina's seem to sell Perm. grade fuels and then we have the E-? blends. I would think that higher rpm running or long trips should call for Perm. grades. But some folks cruise at slower speeds on a Sunday afternoon. Couldn't my 1990 454's handle reg. grade fuel if I cruise mostly at slower speeds just to save the stuff. It's tough spending over $5 per gallon and see reg. at the pump a buck an half less.

Octane is only to prevent pre

Octane is only to prevent pre ignition ping or knocking. Used in higher compression engines. As far as I know our engines are relatively low compression and should run fine on 89octane. No need for 93 as it will do no good.

"Marinas usually sell 89 octan

"Marinas usually sell 89 octane, but most boats run just fine on the 87 base grade sold at Joes Super Service.

The EFI engines are calibrated

The EFI engines are calibrated to run on regular and do not run as well on premium.
